How to Make AI Copy Sound Like Your Brand, Not a Generic Template

Wrivo AI Team··3 min read

If you've tried an AI writing tool and felt like every store using it ends up sounding the same, you're not wrong. The default output of most generators is tuned to be inoffensive and broadly applicable — which also makes it forgettable.

The fix isn't switching tools every few months looking for one that "sounds better" by default. It's giving whatever tool you use a real definition of your brand voice before you generate anything.

What "brand voice" actually means in practice

It's not a mood board or three adjectives in a settings field. A usable brand voice definition includes:

  • Real examples of copy you've already written that sounds right — not hypothetical descriptions of your tone
  • Specific words and phrases you avoid — "elevate," "unleash," "game-changer," or whatever your team has banned in Slack
  • The reading level and sentence length your audience actually responds to
  • How formal or casual you are with customers, and where that line moves for different products

Once that's captured, it should apply everywhere — product descriptions, blog posts, ad scripts, email copy — not just one field on one page.

Why tone variations aren't a workaround for brand voice

Three tone options (warm, professional, bold) solve a different problem: matching the right tone to the right placement. A warm variation for an organic skincare landing page, a bold one for a paid ad. Brand voice is what makes all three variations still sound like the same company wrote them.

Skip brand voice setup, and your "bold" tone might read like a completely different brand than your "warm" one. Set it up once, and all three stay recognizably you.

The one-time cost that pays off immediately

Setting up brand voice takes a few minutes: paste in a handful of your best existing product descriptions or brand statements, and it becomes the baseline every future generation is checked against. Compare that to the alternative — editing every single AI draft to fix tone — and the math isn't close.

A quick test

Take five AI-generated product descriptions from your store right now. Cover the images and see if you can tell which store they're from without seeing the product. If you can't, that's a brand voice gap, not an AI quality problem.

Wrivo AI's Brand Voice feature exists specifically to close that gap — set it once, and every generation across product copy, blogs, and ads inherits it automatically.
